스톡홀름을 기반으로 활동하는 작가 요나스 달버그(b.1970)는 우리를 둘러싼 공간에 대한 관심을 미술과 건축, 개인적인 것과 정치적인 것이 교차하는 지점에서 비디오, 설치, 조각 등의 다매체를 통해 구현한다. 특정 장소를 모형으로 제작한 다음 이를 슬로우모션 기법으로 이동 촬영한 그의 무빙 이미지들은 현실과 가상 사이의 연결고리를 초현실적으로 조명하며 현대인이 경험하는 공간이 결국 실제가 아닌 의식 속에 존재하는 허상일 수 있다는 것을 상기시킨다. 작가는 베니스 비엔날레, 상파울루 비엔날레 등 유력 비엔날레에 참가했으며, 2005년 당시 역대 최연소 작가로 스톡홀롬 현대미술관에서 개인전을 개최하며 비디오 아트 장르에 새로운 물결을 일으켰다. 주요 개인전을 솔로몬 R. 구겐하임미술관, 시카고 아트 인스티튜트, 덴마크 아로후스 미술관 등에서 개최했으며, 그의 작품은 미국의 헤스 컬렉션, 프랑스의 부르고뉴 현대미술 컬렉션, 독일 아트미디어 테크놀로지 센터 등에 소장되어 있다.
Jonas Dahlberg(b.1970), an artist based in Stockholm, works across diverse mediums including video, installation, and sculpture to realize the points of intersection between art and architecture, the personal and the political. Dahlberg creates specific sites into miniatures and then develops slow-motion videos. His moving images highlight the connection between the actuality and the imaginary, reminding the audience that the space surrounding one might be an illusion out of one’s consciousness. Dahlberg participated in influential biennales such as Venice Biennale and Sao Paulo Biennale. In 2005, he was the youngest artist to hold a solo show at the Moderna Museet, causing a lasting impact in the genre of video art. He held solo exhibitions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York, USA), Art Institute of Chicago (Chicago, USA), and ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum (Aarhus, Denmark). Dahlberg’s works were acquired by the Hess Collection (Napa, USA), Fonds régional d'art contemporain (Marseille, France), and ZKM | Center for Art and Media (Karlsruhe, Germany).
