Brent Wadden(b.1979), a Canadian-born artist, has gained a keen attention of the international art world with his large hand-woven fabric works of geometrical shapes and notable composition. His labor-intensive works, produced over a long period of weaving, display a unique materiality and question the notion of Abstract Expressionism while blurring the boundaries between traditional crafts and contemporary art. Currently, working between Berlin and Vancouver, Wadden has held solo exhibitions in world renowned institutions such as Peres Project (Berlin, Germany), Pace Gallery (London, UK), Mitchell Innes and Nash Gallery (New York, USA) as well as Almine Rech Gallery (Brussels, Belgium and Paris, France). His works can be found in collections worldwide including the Rubell Family Collection (Miami, USA), the Marciano Art Foundation (Los Angeles, USA), and the LVMH Foundation (Paris, France).
