임민욱(b.1968)은 미디어아트와 퍼포먼스, 설치 등의 작업을 통하여 한국의 근대화 과정에서 발생한 무분별한 개발, 부동산투기, 소통의 부재, 이주노동자 문제 등 1970년대 이후 형성된 한국의 특수한 시대적 맥락에 대하여 주목해왔다. 최근 그녀는 제도와 문화, 인종 등 현대인을 둘러싼 보편적인 사회환경으로 탐구의 영역을 확장하여 동시대 문화에서 목격되는 개념적 충돌을 포착하고자 한다. 임민욱은 Ecole des Beaux-Arts(Paris) 조형예술학과를 졸업하였으며, 대표작으로는 , , , 등이 있다. 그녀는 Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Walker Art Center, The Museum of Fine Arts(Houston), Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum(Mexico), National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, 아트선재센터 등 세계 유수의 미술기관에서 전시를 개최하였고, 광주비엔날레 재단상, 한국 에르메스재단 미술상, 미디어아트 코리아어워드(MAK) 등을 수상한 바 있다.
