서울시립미술관에서 개최된 소장품 주제 기획전 《SeMA 옴니버스》에서 홍영인 작가의 작품이 전시중입니다. 이번 전시는 서소문 본관과 3개의 분관에서 순차적으로 개막되는 옴니버스 형식으로, 총 4편의 전시를 통해 서울시립미술관 ‘소장품의 가능성과 역동성 제시’라는 동일한 비전 아래 네트워크화 된 미술관으로서 각 분관이 지닌 다양성을 소장품을 통해 탐구합니다.
홍영인 작가는 8월 개막한 서소문 분관의 전시 《끝없이 갈라지는 세계의 끝에서》에서 자수와 퍼포먼스를 통해 사회 속 소외된 여성의 이야기를 다룹니다. 영화 ‘사하린의 하늘과 땅’(1974)의 포스터에서 영감을 받은 <행복의 하늘과 땅>(2013)은 한국 근대화 시기 주요 여성 인물과 노동자의 초상을 포토 몽타주 기법으로 재구성하며 역사를 다시금 조명합니다. 홍영인은 이처럼 저평가된 여성의 노동과 활동을 자수라는 올드 미디어로 승화시키며 도처에 산재된 수직적 위계와 거대 서사의 구조를 예술로써 유연하게 허뭅니다. 전시는 11월 17일까지.
Currently on display at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), the collection-themed exhibition 𝘚𝘦𝘔𝘈 𝘖𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘴 includes works by Young In Hong. The exhibition spans SeMA’s Seosomun branch and three satellite locations, exploring the diversity of the museum's collection under the theme of "the potential and dynamism of the collection."
In the Seosomun branch exhibition 𝘈𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘚𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘵 𝘌𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘭𝘺, Hong’s 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 (2013) reinterprets the stories of marginalized women. Inspired by the 1974 film Heaven and Earth of Sakhalin, this work combines photo montage and embroidery to revisit key female figures and laborers from Korea’s modernization era. By employing embroidery, a traditionally undervalued craft, Hong uses art to challenge historical hierarchies and narratives. The exhibition runs until November 17.
