한국 1세대 모더니스트 유영국과 한국 근대 조각의 선구자 권진규, 한국 근현대미술 주요 작가로 꼽히는 두 거장의 작품을 경기도 미술관의 이건희컬렉션 한국근현대미술 특별전 《사계》에서 만나볼 수 있습니다.
이건희컬렉션을 중심으로 이루어진 본 특별전은 41명의 작가가 구현한 한국 근현대사 속 미술의 모습을 드러냄과 더불어, 작품이 지닌 자연, 계절감, 시간성 등과 같은 ‘사계 四季’의 면모를 발견하고 조화, 자연, 향수 등 추상적 개념으로 확장합니다.
본 전시에서는 회화의 기본 요소로 자연의 추상적 아름다움에 다가서고자 한 유영국의 회화 <산> 연작 2점과 <작품>, 한국적 리얼리즘을 정립하고자 했던 권진규의 <자소상>을 포함한 조각 3점이 소개됩니다. 전시는 8월 20일까지.
Yoo Youngkuk, the first-generation modernist in Korea, and Kwon Jinkyu, a pioneer of Korean modern sculpture, present works by two leading figures of Korean modern and contemporary, Seasons Lee Kun-hee Collection: Modern and Contemporary Korean Art at the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art.
This exhibition, which consists of around Lee Kun-hee Collection, present the korean art of 41 artists in modern and contemporary history, and they catch some points related to 'Seasons' in those works such as nature, sense of seasons and passage of time. Moreover, they extend abstract concepts to harmony, nature and nostalgia.
In Seasons Lee Kun-hee Collection: Modern and Contemporary Korean Art, Yoo Youngkuk’s painting Mountain series and Work, which wanted to reach the abstract beauty of nature using basic elements of painting, and three sculptures by Kwon Jin-kyu, contained Self-portrait, who aspired toward the establishment of ‘Korean realism,’ are displayed.
Seasons Lee Kun-hee Collection: Modern and Contemporary Korean Art runs until August 20th.
