한국 최초의 추상화가 유영국 (1916-2002), 한국 근대 조각의 선구자 권진규 (1922-1973), 한국 근현대미술을 이끈 두 거장의 작품을 서울 올림픽 공원 내 소마미술관의 《다시 보다: 한국근현대미술전》에서 만나볼 수 있습니다.
서울올림픽 35주년을 기념하여 진행되는 본 특별전은 1920년대 국내 화단의 형성부터 1988년 서울올림픽 개최 시기까지, 문화 유입에 따른 한국 근현대미술의 변천사를 다섯 개의 소주제로 나누어 다룹니다.
본 전시에서는 한국적 리얼리즘을 정립하고자 한 권진규의 드로잉 <달을 보는 기사>, 동물상 <서 있는 말>과 함께 한반도의 자연과 그 에센스를 강렬한 색채와 추상의 형태 속에 투영한 유영국의 <산>이 20세기의 추상과 조각을 다루는 Part 4, 5전시장에서 소개됩니다.
Yoo Youngkuk (1916-2002), a pioneer of geometric abstract painting in Korea, and Kwon Jin kyu (1922-1973), a pioneer of Korean modern sculpture, present works by two leading figures of Korean modern and contemporary art, Re_SPECT:Korean Modern Art at the SOMA museum.
Organized to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Seoul Olympics, this special exhibition explores the evolution of Korean modern and contemporary art in response to cultural influx, from the formation of Korean painting in the 1920s to the 1988 Seoul Olympics, divided into five subtopics.
Kwon Jin kyu's drawing Knight Seeing the Moon, which sought to define Korean realism, and his animal Sculpture Standing Horse, along with Yoo Youngkuk's Mountain, which depicts the nature and essence of the Korean peninsula through intense colors and abstract forms, will be presented in Parts 4 and 5 of the exhibition, focusing on 20th-century abstraction and sculpture.
