올라퍼 엘리아슨의 영구 설치 작품〈Your planetary assembly〉가 영국 옥스퍼드에 개장한 Fallaize Park에 공개되었습니다. 작품은 옥스퍼드의 글로벌 혁신 지구 Oxford North가 새롭게 오픈한 약 약 2만 3천 제곱미터 규모의 공원 전체를 하나의 지각적 지도이자 모임의 장으로 확장하였습니다. 이는 태양계의 모델과 옥스퍼드대학교 자연사 박물관의 오러리(orrery)에서 영감을 받아 제작되었으며, 총 8점의 개별 조각으로 구성되어 있습니다. 해가 지기 시작하면 망원경으로 포착된 행성 이미지의 색조를 반영한 조명이 켜지며, 공원을 지나는 이들에게 길을 안내하는 이정표이자 자연스럽게 머무르고 모이게 하는 작은 광장이 되어줍니다. 이 프로젝트는 공공 예술이 한 지역의 문화 생태와 일상의 리듬을 어떻게 바꿀 수 있는지를 보여주는 사례로 자리매김하고 있습니다.

Olafur Eliasson’s permanent installation 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘺 has been unveiled in Oxford at the newly opened Fallaize Park. The artwork expands two-acre public park’s green landscape into a perceptual map and a communal gathering space within Oxford North. Inspired by models of the solar system and the orreries housed at the University of Oxford’s History of Science Museum, the installation is composed of eight individual sculptures integrated along the park’s pathways. From dusk, internal light systems illuminate each sculptural form in dominant tones drawn from telescopic imagery of the planets, functioning as orientation points as well as informal piazza-like grounds that guide movement and invite visitors to naturally pause, meet, and share space. The project marks a key precedent for how public art can reshape a district’s cultural ecosystem and everyday spatial rhythm.
