구정아 작가가 2024년 제60회 베니스비엔날레 한국관 대표작가로 참여합니다.
한국관 전시 «오도라마 시티»는 구정아가 지난 30여 년간 실행한 ‘향 프로젝트’의 연장선 상에 있습니다. 오도라마는 향을 뜻하는 ‘Odor’와 드라마의 ‘rama’를 결합한 단어로, 작가는 이번 전시를 위해 작년 6월 25일부터 오픈콜을 열고 ‘한국의 도시와 고향에 얽힌 향’에 관한 대중의 기억을 수집했습니다. 국경과 경계를 넘어서는 600여 편의 향기 메모리는 17개의 향과 5개의 설치 요소로 연결되며, 한국의 새로운 지형도를 전시장에 공감각적으로 그려낼 예정입니다.
올해 한국관은 첫 공동 예술감독 체제로, 이설희 쿤스트할 오르후스 수석 큐레이터와 야콥 파브리시우스 아트허브 코펜하겐 관장이 총괄합니다. 베니스비엔날레는 4월 20일부터 11월 24일까지 베니스 자르디니 및 아르세날레 전시장 등에서 개최됩니다.
Koo Jeong A is participating in the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024 as the representative artist at the Korean Pavilion.
The exhibition 𝘖𝘋𝘖𝘙𝘈𝘔𝘈 𝘊𝘐𝘛𝘐𝘌𝘚 derives its name from a combination of ‘odor’ and ‘drama’ and serves as an extension of the ‘scent project’ that the artist has been developing over the past 30 years. Since June 25th last year, the artist has conducted an open call, gathering memories from the audience regarding the scent of Korean cities and their homelands. Over 600 scent memories, transcending countries and boundaries, will be displayed in 17 different scents across 5 installations, presenting a new topographic map of Korea in the exhibition space with synesthesia.
The Korean Pavilion introduces the first joint Artistic Director system, overseen by Seolhui Lee, Chief Curator of Kunsthal Aarhus, and Jacob Fabricius, Director of Art Hub Copenhagen. The Venice Biennale will run from April 20th to November 24th, featuring exhibitions at Giardini and Arsenal in Venice, alongside other exhibition spaces.
