흑백 사진으로 과거의 기억을 세밀한 연필 작업을 통해 현재와 미래의 시간 속에 기록하는 작가, 조덕현의 대형 설치 작업을 서울대학교미술관 《시간의 두 증명–모순과 순리》에서 만나볼 수 있습니다.
본 전시는 서울대학교미술관과 재단법인 아름지기의 협력전으로 일시성과 영원성이 공존하는 ‘시간’이라는 개념에 기반합니다.
조덕현의 <박싱, 언박싱>에서 관람객은 정착과 이주를 빠르게 반복하는 현대인이 미처 열어보지 못한 이삿짐 박스 속 바래진 기억과 역사의 짐을 마주하게 됩니다. 작품 속 결혼, 우정, 성장을 담은 과거 인물들의 초상사진은 연필과 콩테의 세밀한 선으로 촘촘히 복제되고, 사진 속 사람, 작가 그리고 관람자의 시공간을 연결 지어 나갑니다. 전시는 5월 28일까지.
Through black-and-white photographs, artist Cho Duck Hyun records memories of the past in the present and future -time- through detailed pencil work. His large-scale installation can be seen in the exhibition Time States - Contradiction and Accordance at the Seoul National University Museum of Art.
This exhibition, a co-organized by the Seoul National University Museum of Art and the Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation. It is based on the concept of 'time' as a coexistence of temporality and eternity. It explores the transcendent meaning of past traditions and values in Korean rituals, and through this, seeks to find evolutionary inspiration for everyday life and art in the present and the future.
In Cho Duck Hyun's Boxing, Unboxing, viewers are confronted with the faded memories and burdens of history, represented by moving boxes that remain unopened by modern people who settle and relocate rapidly. The portraits of individuals from the past depict moments of marriage, friendship, and personal growth, intricately captured with fine pencil and comte lines, bridging the temporal and spatial connections between the people in the photographs, the artist, and the viewers. The exhibition will be held until May 28.
