올해로 3회를 맞은 일민미술관 ‘IMA Picks 2024’ 3인에 백현진 작가가 선정되어 개인전을 선보이고 있습니다. 《담담함안담담함 라운지》로 명명된 백현진의 공간은 종횡 무진하는 그의 몸짓을 두서 없이 기록하듯 종이, 그물, 화분, 간의 의자, 천, 거울, 영상 등 상이한 재료와 다양한 매체의 묶임으로 구성되어 그만의 고유한 라운지로서 자리합니다.
전시장의 한 면을 뒤덮는 <당신의 배경>(2024)은 36개의 개별 작을 결합한 대형 회화로 먹, 물감, 잉크 등 단출한 재료를 종이에 있는 그대로 얹으며 무리가 가지 않는 움직임으로 담담히 그린다는 작가의 규칙에 기반하여 제작되었습니다. 작업의 끝에 자리한 전면의 거울은 <당신의 배경>을 바라보고 그 주변을 배회하는 관람객의 모습을 비추고, 이내 개개인의 편히 즐길 수 있을 라운지로 향하는 관람의 종착점을 안내합니다.
전시는 11월 17일까지. 전시 중 연계 퍼포먼스 <늪과 거울> 과 관객 참여형 퍼포먼스가 함께 진행됩니다.
This year marks the third edition of 𝘐𝘔𝘈 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘴 2024 at Ilmin Museum of Art, with Bek Hyunjin being selected as one of the three featured artists. His solo exhibition, titled 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘓𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘦, creates a unique space where various materials like paper, nets, potted plants, chairs, fabric, mirrors, and videos are loosely assembled, reflecting the artist's wide-ranging and unstructured gestures.
One of the exhibition’s key pieces, 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥(2024), is a large-scale painting composed of 36 individual works. Using simple materials such as ink, paint, and water on paper, the artist follows a personal rule of making restrained, effortless movements. At the end of the piece, a large mirror reflects both the artwork and the viewers, guiding them towards a 'lounge'—a space where they can comfortably pause and reflect.
The exhibition runs until November 17, 2024. During the exhibition, the related performance 𝘚𝘸𝘢𝘮𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳 and a participatory performance involving the audience will also be held.
