2026년, PKM 갤러리는 동시대 작가의 감각적인 파동과 거장의 묵직한 울림이 교차하는 여섯 개의 주요 전시를 선보인다. 올해 전시 프로그램은 현시대의 미술 양상과 그 토대를 제공한 과거의 유산을 가로질러 봄과 동시에, 회화, 도예, 사진 등 한국 미술의 다양한 스펙트럼을 폭넓게 조명한다.
올해 첫 전시로 ‘순수미술과 공예예술Fine Art and Craft Art’을 다룬 기획 단체전, «From Hands»가 2월 초 본관에서 개막한다. 기계와 디지털이 인간의 지능을 장악하는 현시대, 몸과 맞닿는 경험은 더욱 소중해졌다. 이번 전시는 손의 움직임과 감촉으로 빚어낸 ‘핸드 크래프트hand craft’ 작업에 주목한다. 김시영 (b. 1958)의 흑유, 이인진 (b. 1957)의 토기, 이명진 (b. 1995)현대도자 등 손의 감각으로 완성된 도예 작업에 더불어, 정창섭 (1927-2011)의 닥종이 회화, 구현모 (b. 1974)의 나무 조각, 홍영인 (b. 1972)의 텍스타일 작업 등 현대미술 작가들의 작품을 교차하여 보여준다. 다르면서도 닮은 두 분야의 작업들을 경계 없이 살피는 본 전시는, 각 작업이 주고받는 온기 있는 대화를 관객에게 들려줄 것이다.
같은 기간에 별관에서는 백현진 (b. 1972)의 개인전 «Seoul Syntax»가 열린다. 멀티 아티스트 백현진은 미술가이자 음악가, 연기자로 전시장과 공연장, 스크린을 종횡무진하며 운신의 폭을 넓혀 왔다. 화가로서 백현진의 최신작을 소개하는 이번 전시는 캔버스와 비디오의 화면을 비우듯 채워내는 그의 조형 언어에 초점을 둔다. 치기 어리게 물감이나 요소를 쌓아 올리기보다는, 덜어내어 필요한 만큼 남기는 작가 특유의 작업들이 그가 나고 자란 서울을 배경으로 펼쳐질 예정이다.
4월과 5월에는 세계 무대에서 활발히 활동하고 있는 사진 작가 이정진 (b. 1961)의 전시가 개최된다. 이정진은 자연이 태초의 모습을 드러내는 묵시적 순간을 렌즈로 포착해 왔다. 사진을 단순한 재현의 도구가 아닌 존재와 부재를 동시에 드러내는 사유의 매체로 활용하는 그는, 보이는 것 너머의 세계로 관람자를 안내한다. 이번 전시는 아이슬란드 풍광에서 출발한 그의 최신 사진 시리즈 ‹Unseen›을 구작과 함께 갤러리 전관에 걸쳐 공개한다. ‹Unseen› 시리즈는 2025년 『가디언』, 『FT 매거진』 등 해외 주요 언론에 대서특필로 소개된 바 있으며, 파리 포토 2025의 메인 포스터를 장식하기도 하였다.
6월에는 회화 작가 이근민 (b. 1982)의 개인전이 진행된다. 이근민은 개인이 겪은 불안과 위로, 상실과 회복이라는 양가적인 감정의 수많은 층위를 시각 언어로 치환하며, 회화의 새로운 가능성을 모색해 왔다. 2022년 스페이스 K에서의 개인전 «그리고 아무도 아프지 않았다»를 통해 강렬한 인상과 깊은 공감을 남긴 바 있다. 이번 전시는 이근민의 근래 작품세계를 드로잉과 소품, 대형회화를 아울러 집약적으로 선보이는 자리다. 관람자는 중첩된 색면과 흐트러진 형상, 추상적인 기호들 사이로 피어오르는 그의 내밀한 세계를 정서적 몰입이 극대화된 전시 환경에서 생생히 경험하게 될 것이다.
8월 말에는 프리즈 서울과 키아프 기간에 맞춰 故 윤형근 (1928-2007)의 작품전이 개막한다. 20세기 후반 한국 현대미술을 대표하는 윤형근 화백은, 다색umber과 청색blue을 사용한 ‘천지문’ 연작을 통해 한국 단색화의 흐름을 주도해 왔다. 이번 전시는 ‘삶이 곧 예술이고 예술이 곧 삶’이었던 윤 화백의 신념에 특히 주목하여, 그의 생활과 맞닿아 있는 초기부터 말년까지의 작업을 엄선해 선보인다. 전시와 연계하여, 윤 화백이 직접 짓고 기거하며 작업했던 서교동 자택이 대중에게 제한적으로 공개될 예정이다. 또한, 윤형근 카탈로그 레조네 Catalogue Raisonné 웹사이트가 지난 10여 년의 방대한 자료 수집과 연구를 거쳐 순차적으로 오픈한다.
2026년 마지막 전시는 정영도 (b.1985)의 개인전이다. 그는 동서양의 서로 다른 문화권을 거쳐 형성된 개인의 역사를 바탕으로, 내면과 외부 세계가 충돌하는 장면을 회화 작업을 통해 표출해 왔다. 이번 전시는 동 갤러리에서 5년 만에 열리는 그의 개인전으로, 작가가 최근 추구하고 있는 작업의 방향성을 제시할 예정이다. 특히 5.5m 층고의 본관 전시장 한 면을 200호 이상의 대작들로 가득 채울 예정으로, 이는 마치 거대한 벽화를 마주하는 듯한 압도감을 주며 이번 전시의 대미를 장식할 것이다.
나아가, 올해에는 PKM 갤러리 작가들의 풍성한 국내 주요 미술관 전시가 계획되어 있다. 서울시립미술관 서소문본관에서는 5월부터 10월까지 유영국 탄생 110주년을 기념하는 최대 규모의 회고전, «유영국: 산은 내 안에 있다»가 개최된다. 전시는 ‘심상의 산’을 표현해 온 유영국의 작품 세계를 폭넓게 조망한다. 9월에는 구정아의 대규모 개인전이 리움미술관에서 열린다. 전시는 전시장뿐 아니라 로비, 벽 뒤, 고미술품 사이 등 예기치 못한 공간에서 관객이 작품을 마주하게 하여 작가가 창조한 ‘우스Ousss; 현실도 가상도 아니지만 감지할 수 있는 맞닿은 세계’로 일순간 이동시키고, 세상을 인식하는 방식을 새롭게 할 예정이다.

In 2026, PKM Gallery presents six major exhibitions where the sensory waves of contemporary artists intersect with the profound resonance of masters. This year’s exhibition program bridges contemporary art trends with the past heritage that provided their foundation, while extensively highlighting the diverse spectrum of Korean art, including painting, ceramics, and photography.
The year opens with the group exhibition 𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙, exploring ‘Fine Art and Craft Art’. Opening in early February at the main building, this exhibition focuses on the value of physical experience in an era dominated by digital intelligence. It highlights ‘hand craft’ works created through tactile movement, featuring a crossover of black glazed jar by Kim Syyoung (b. 1958), earthenware by Inchin Lee (b. 1957), and contemporary ceramics by Myungjin Lee (b. 1995) paired with the Tak (mulberry bark fiber) paintings of Chung Chang-sup (1927–2011), wood sculptures by Koo Hyunmo (b. 1974), and textile works by Young In Hong (b. 1972). By dissolving the boundaries between these two different yet similar fields, craft art and fine art, the exhibition provides viewers with an intimate dialogue between the works.
At the same period, the annex will present Bek Hyunjin (b. 1972)’s solo exhibition, 𝙎𝙚𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙭. As a multi-disciplinary artist, musician, and actor, Bek has expanded his scope across galleries, stages, and screens. The exhibition focuses on his latest paintings, highlighting a formal language that simultaneously fills and empties the canvas and video screens. Rather than impulsively layering paint or elements, his works leave only the essentials, unfolding against the backdrop of Seoul, where the artist was born and raised.
From April to May, an exhibition by photographer Jungjin Lee (b. 1961) will be held. Lee captures apocalyptic moments where nature reveals its primordial form. Treating photography as a medium of contemplation that reveals both presence and absence rather than a tool of mere representation, she guides viewers to a world beyond the visible. This exhibition will unveil her latest series, 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯, inspired by Icelandic landscapes, alongside her earlier works across the entire gallery. The 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 series gained significant international acclaim in 2025, being featured in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯 and 𝘍𝘛 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘦, and gracing the main poster of Paris Photo 2025.
In June, a solo exhibition by painter Keunmin Lee (b. 1982) will take place. Lee explores new possibilities in painting by translating ambivalent emotions—anxiety and comfort, loss and recovery—into a visual language. Following the deep resonance of his 2022 solo exhibition at Space K, 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘬, this exhibition intensively showcases his recent artistic world, encompassing drawings, small works, and large-scale paintings. Viewers will experience his intimate world through overlapping color planes, distorted forms, and abstract symbols within an immersive environment designed to maximize emotional engagement.
In late August, coinciding with Frieze Seoul and Kiaf, an exhibition of Yun Hyong-keun (1928–2007) will open. A representative of late 20th-century Korean modern art, Yun led the Dansaekhwa movement through his 𝘎𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 series, characterized by its signature Umber-Blue palette. This exhibition focuses on his belief that "life is art, and art is life," presenting a curated selection of works from his early to late years. In conjunction with the exhibition, Yun’s private residence and studio in Seogyo-dong will be opened to the public on a limited basis. Additionally, the Yun Hyong-keun Catalogue Raisonné website will launch sequentially after a decade of extensive research.
The final exhibition of 2026 is a solo show by Young Do Jeong (b. 1985). Based on his personal history across Eastern and Western cultures, he expresses the collision between his inner self and external worlds through painting. This marks his first solo show at the gallery in five years, presenting the direction of his recent work. Notably, one wall of the 5.5m-high main gallery will be filled with large-scale works, providing an overwhelming experience akin to facing a giant mural and bringing the year’s program to a powerful close.
Furthermore, major museum exhibitions of PKM Gallery artists are scheduled throughout the year across Korea. From May to October, the Seosomun Main Branch of the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) will host Yoo Youngkuk, the largest-ever retrospective celebrating the 110th anniversary of the artist’s birth. The exhibition broadly explores his world of “mountains of the mind’s eye.” In September, a major solo exhibition by Koo Jeong A will open at the Leeum Museum of Art. The exhibition will extend beyond the gallery spaces into unexpected sites—including the lobby, hidden areas behind walls, and amidst ancient artifacts—transporting viewers into the artist's 𝘖𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘴: a perceivable, contiguous world that is neither real nor virtual, yet perceptible, and renewing our fundamental perceptions of the world.
